Generation Centraide

Making a huge dent in social inequality, toonie after toonie

Generation Centraide is a group of young people committed to the common goal of reducing social inequality in Greater Montreal.

We might not be rolling in cash and may still have student loans to pay off, but we do what we can. You don’t need to be a multimillionaire to give back. Your $2 a month will do a lot of good when invested in the right place. This is exactly what Centraide does with our contributions.

As the saying goes, “Give someone a fish, and you feed them for a day. Teach someone to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime.” That’s exactly what Centraide-funded initiatives aim to do, for example, through purchasing groups to reduce people’s grocery bills, academic support to encourage students to graduate, support to help people find a job, collective kitchens to teach families to make healthy meals, and much more.

There are a thousand ways to help people who are going through hard times, but we have to realize that the reasons for poverty can be complex. There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to listening to people, understanding what they face, and finding solutions with them. This is why we trust neighbourhood agencies that provide personalized help to the people who need it.

Sometimes, people just need a bit of a helping hand. Other times, they need support over many years. Overall, Centraide helps over 500,000 people every year. Each time, the goal is the same: to give everyone an equal chance.

We can do all this with your $2. And you can’t imagine how grateful we are for your gift! (Grateful? Understatement!) To say thanks, we’ve got some perks just for Gen C members. Because, giving and getting is connected—and all about spreading some #GoodKarma 🙂
